Dr. Diane Fukunaga is pleased to join the O’Fallon Mozingo Music Store as a clarinet and piano teacher. Dr. F was born and raised in Lawrence, Kansas. Attending The University of Kansas, she earned simultaneously a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish and a Bachelor’s in Music Education. At Michigan State University Dr. F completed a Master of Music degree with a clarinet performance major. Returning to KU, she eventually earned a Ph.D. in music theory, writing a dissertation entitled Music for Unaccompanied Clarinet by Contemporary Latin American Composers.

Her teaching career has included music classes of many types in public and private schools, junior and community colleges, and a four year college. She also taught high school Spanish for five years.

Dr. F. has sung with both the Grand Rapids Symphony Chorus and the Kansas City Symphony Chorus, and she played eleven years with the Kansas City Wind Symphony. Her special interests include symphonic music, chamber music, and opera; and she loves to listen to jazz.
