Elyssa is an accomplished flutist who has been playing for over 15 years.  She was accepted as a member of the Iowa All-State Band in 2006 and the Iowa All-State Orchestra in 2007.  She also was awarded second place in the Southeast Iowa Marilyn Minford McCoid Young Artist Competition in 2007.

Elyssa received both her BA in Music and MA in Education from Truman State University in Kirksville, MO, where she studied with Dr. Julianna Moore.  During her college tenure, she performed with Wind Ensemble I, Truman’s premier performing ensemble and the Truman State Flute Quartet, and took part in several competitions including Truman’s Gold Medal Concerto Competition.

Elyssa has been living in the St. Louis area for 4 years and has taught music in the Parkway and Riverview Gardens School Districts.  She occasionally plays in the pit ensemble for the Next Generation Theatre Company in productions such as Singin’ in the Rain and West Side Story.
