John teaches guitar and bass lessons. He has been playing guitar since I was 10, and started out on saxophone before that. John was a music major at Florissant Valley Community College and started teaching guitar lessons when he was 20. One of his most fulfilling things about teaching is seeing a student’s face light up when they achieve a goal master a song, or can play the guitar part of a song with the recording all the way through.

John performs as a solo musician, and has done over 120 gigs last year, including a 3 week tour of Michigan and Wisconsin. He plays at senior facilities during the day, and also performs a more contemporary show at Rendezvous Cafe and Madisons’ Café (both in O’Fallon), and at Montelle and Augusta Wineries. John also has experience playing in a worship band, and as a worship leader, in various churches in the area. He has played in many different types of bands, and traveled with a band for 3 years when he was in his 20′s, playing at resorts and living on the road.

As far as musical honors…the best honors are when he knows that he has pleased a crowd, or has taught a good lesson. Also, one of his earlier bands won two radio stations contests for original songs, (one of them being KSHE), and were featured on two records and songs played on the air. John has many favorite artists and bands, because he likes many different styles of music. Some of his favorite guitarists include Lincoln Brewster, Alex Lifeson, Stevie Ray Vaughn, John Mayer, Eddie Van Halen, Phil Keaggy, and many, many others!!
