Kayla has over 15 years of experience playing trombone and is currently attending
Lindenwood University studying Music Education. She has had the honor of studying
under Dr. Matt Hoormann, a versatile performer and educator in the St. Louis area, forover ten years studying both jazz and classical music.
As a performer, Kayla has played in a variety of genres such as jazz, classical, brass ensembles playing trombone and euphonium, commercial brass bands, wind ensembles, orchestras, and musical pits. Some of the most memorable groups she has performed with include the Missouri All-Collegiate Jazz Band, Lindenwood University SymphonicOrchestra, and the musical In The Heights.
Kayla’s passion for music is contagious and evident in all aspects of her teaching and
playing. As a beginning band student, Kayla was overwhelmed by the joy that music
brought to her life and is constantly inspired to pass that joy and excitement onto her
students. When teaching lessons, Kayla combines her positive enthusiastic approach as well as her knowledge in trombone, theory, and performance in order to help the student better understand, grow as a musician, and achieve their goals.
