Laura Huhn started to play violin in 1989 as a 3rd grader and has been playing ever since. She participated in Solo and Ensemble and in the St. Louis All-Suburban Orchestra while in high school. While going to college at Hannibal-LaGrange University she played with the Quincy Community Symphony Orchestra and was honored with awards for 4 consecutive years: The Ruby & Enos McClure String Award, the Mayfield Music Scholarship, the Chappell-Lewis Music Award, and the D & C Blaser Instrumental Music Award. She completed her student-teaching with the late Clyde Bassett in Quincy, IL. She also served as Secretary, Vice President, and President of the university’s music education chapter through her college career. Laura received her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Instrumental Emphasis in 2003 from Hannibal La-Grange University and received her Master’s degree in August 2013.
Laura has been a music educator since 2004. She currently teaches Middle School Orchestra in the Hazelwood School District. She frequently judges for festivals in the state of Missouri and has been a member of the Missouri Music Educators Association and the Music Education National Conference since 1999.
Laura has also been teaching private string lessons since 2006 at Mozingo Music in O’Fallon, MO.
