Sean Archer is an active freelance musician in the St. Louis area. He has been playing the upright and electric bass for over 8 years. With an extensive and diverse performance background as an accompanist, he has been fortunate to work with some of St. Louis’ finest musicians.
Since 2012, he has accompanied singer, songwriter and guitarist Sean Coray at county fairs, festivals, art exhibitions, wineries and restaurants. In January of 2016 Sean recorded with the St. Louis based artist on his second EP, titled Encinitas.
Additionally, Sean plays with groove-based cover band, Leland’s Road. Since 2014, they have played several state and county fairs across Missouri and Illinois, as well as Busch Stadium, The Anheuser Busch Biergarten, and Ballpark Village. Leland’s Road will be recording their first original EP in January of 2017.
Sean also plays with original country artist, Chris Scott. The band made its first appearance at Cicero’s in May of 2016 in front of a sold-out crowd. Later that summer, they opened for renowned country artist, Tucker Beathard, at the Blue Note in Columbia, Missouri. Sean was also asked to record on the single, “Work” which appears on Chris’ debut album.
Sean offers a unique approach to students, focusing not only on the technical and theoretical aspects of playing, but the ability to play with complete confidence and awareness. Some of his biggest influences include Percy Heath, Ray Brown, Sam Jones, Pino Palladino, Paul Jackson, and James Jamerson.
