Sean Trost has over 25 years experience in guitar playing and performance. He became hooked when he learned the basics and fundamentals with a private rock instructor at age 11. Sean then sought lessons with guitar master Kevin Ray, who has shared the stage and studio with many major label recording artists. Within a few short years, Sean could utilize an array of advanced guitar techniques, as well as teach them to his friends. Sean was able to combine his skill and training when he performed with his high school jazz band and his own guitar driven heavy metal band.
Sean’s passion for teaching continued at St. Louis Community College, where he was employed as a teachers assistant in the music department, and majored in classical guitar. It was during Sean’s college years that he had an opportunity to study with the President of the Classical Guitar Society, and concentrate on music theory with classical concert pianist Bertram Ward. Sean has found this extensive theory training pertinent in performance and one of the most useful tools in guitar instruction.
For several years Sean has taught private and group guitar lessons in residences, music stores, and a community college in the St. Louis, Mo area. Former students are now instructors, in bands locally and nationally, and have been accepted into music conservatories around the world.
Performing in a variety of bands since his teens, Sean has played alongside of many of the regions most talented and respected musicians in rock, punk, blues, country, pop, funk, and Metal. He can currently be found performing in the band Captain Kickass.
