Troy Clark has been playing Guitar for 26 years, and teaching Professionally Full time for 17 of those 26 years (since 1998). Troy’s style ranges from early classic rock to 70′s melodic rock and blues players like Michael Schenker, Neal Schon, Gary Richrath, Gary Moore, Eric Clapton, Buddy Guy to Modern Day styles & Contemporary Praise and Worship Music.
His playing was most influenced by the 80′s when Eddie Van Halen, George Lynch, and Randy Rhoads, and Steve Vai hit the scene. In 1987 Joe Satriani hit the scene and was one of his biggest influences, having the most impact on Troy’s playing during his learning period, and he is still influential today even though Troy didn’t start playing guitar seriously until 1989. Other 80′s influences are shredders like Yngwie Malmsteen, Paul Gilbert, and Vinnie Moore.
Troy enjoys the playing styles of Andy Timmons, Joe Bonamassa, Guthrie Govan, Phil Keaggy, Tommy Emmanuel, Lincoln Brewster,Doyle Dykes, and too many others to list. In July 2007, Troy released his own self-produced instrumental guitar CD titled “Guitar with a Voice”. It has sold all over the world online 2 times over and is attainable through a variety of ways.It has allowed him some great opportunities and he has been the opening act many times live for famous bands like the “Little River Band”. His style is a compilation of all the players that have influenced him. See Video link’s below.
Troy truly enjoys teaching Lead Guitar and Improvisation. But is also versed in teaching all ages from Beginner to Intermediate to Advanced, and enjoys the challenges of each level. Although I’m all about having fun in the lessons, I am also really focused on making fundamental’s a big part of the learning process. I feel with the proper teaching on fundamentals and technique and lot’s and lots of practice to develop muscle memory in your hand’s and your mind is key to your development on the Guitar. And of course again, lots of practice no matter if it’s regimented of if your just jamming out on your favorite song.
Currently Troy is working on his 2nd album and is also the Music Director and Leader of Music of his local Church Warrenton Baptist Church in Warrenton MO.
