2013 Summer Schedule
| Alternative Styles Strings Summer Camp | ||
$149: 4 days of instruction (1.5 hours each) & Performance. Fee includes all written materials.
This strings class is for violin students going into grades 6 thru 12. Students enrolled in this camp will get to take a break from traditional musical styles taught in school orchestra programs while broadening their musical horizons. And, they will have some fun while they are at it! Instructor Becky Berndt will introduce students to common practices in musical styles such as jazz, folk, and country fiddle as applied to the violin. Students will learn three simple tunes from each of these genres. Along with each of these tunes, the background of each genre as it relates to the violin (i.e. when it became popular with the violin, what characteristics define each genre, famous violinists in each genre) will be taught. The camp will culminate in a Friday evening performance for family and friends at the Wolf Public House in Ballwin, MO. |
