MRU LogoThe Mozingo Rock University provides St. Louis Metro Area Students a rock band experience for learning and jamming together with their fellow students.

Rock University is a rock band program for vocalists, guitarists, bassists, drummers, and keyboardists between the ages of 10 and 17. Students will enjoy a supportive and motivating environment in which to learn, feel inspired to excel and to help their band to victory at their next gig.

2014 Winter/Spring Schedule

Mozingo Rock University
MRU Summer Concert 2013All students who enroll are placed in one of four skill categories: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Advanced Plus. Skill level for new students is determined by a student skill evaluation with the MRU director prior to beginning of session. For returning students, skill level is determined by the student’s performance at the end of most recent session.

At the end of the 8-week session, student bands will perform an end of session concert at a local venue. Students will be asked to help promote the show to family, friends, and the general public. Various opportunities for performances before, after, and throughout the 8-week sessions will occur. Bands will be asked (at the director’s discretion) to perform. These will generally be community and PR performances that help promote the MRU program.

Like Us On FacebookCost: $279 per student/$199 for placement in a second band for 8 weeks of instruction & Performance (fee includes materials & Mozingo Rock University T-Shirt).

The MRU director will hand select outstanding musicians and performers from the entire pool of MRU students to form a “select” band. This band will rehearse a few songs within a specific theme (ie. “Led Zeppelin Catalog”) to be performed at the end of session concert. Participation in the Select Band will be above and beyond each student’s primary band and will be at the discretion of the MRU director, the student, and the student’s parents/guardians.
FEE FOR MRU SELECT BAND: $99 (in addition to standard MRU fees described below)

All classes are taught by professionally trained music educators and performers. Rehearsal days/times are determined by:

  • Student skill level
  • Schedule availability of the student
  • Student age
  • Student style preferences

All of these are taken into consideration when placing a student in a band that rehearses at one of the above times. Students are placed in bands based on results of evaluation as well as schedule availability and constraints. If students have requests to be placed with other specific students, we will do our absolute best to accommodate, but cannot guarantee specific placements due to varying schedule demands of parents, students, and the Mozingo Music Studio.

That’s it! Once your time is scheduled, it will remain yours until you decide to change it.
